Department of Philology, Media and Communications

The Department of Philology, Media and Communications is the successor to the Department of Russian Language and Mass Communications. Initially the department of Russian language and Literature was created in 1945. Now the department also provides training in Journalism and ESL for all areas of study except for Linguistics and Pedagogical education with major in English and other languages. Like many decades ago, today the department is a team of like-minded people and highly qualified teachers.

  • Lexicography of the northern indigenous languages
  • Intercultural communication in the North
  • Russian language in the Northern Europe
  • Linguistic worldimage of the northerners
  • Indigenous and Nordic literature
  • Mass media in the north
